Summer Reading Programs

Don't forget to sign up your kids and possibly yourself for your local summer reading programs at your local library.    I signed up for an adult reading program (at my local library) and each week I submit what books I finished.   I did the same thing last year and won a gift-card!

Half Price Books - Feed Your Brain Summer Reading Program

1. Read for at least 15 minutes each day in the months of June and July. (Grown-ups may read aloud to kids who are still learning.)
2. Add up your minutes and have your parent or guardian initial each week.
3. Once you’ve read 300 minutes, turn in your completed log to earn HPB Bookworm Bucks for each month.

Barnes and Noble Kids Summer Reading Program

Here Is How:

Step 1.  Read any 8 books and record them in the Reading Journal  (PDF).

Step 2.  Bring the completed Reading Journal to your local B&N store.
Find a Store.

Step 3.  Choose a FREE BOOK from our selection on the Reading Journal list at the store... Enjoy reading!

*Eligible books will be listed on the coupon. Choices must be made from available stock. No special orders. Limit of one (1) form per school-age child (grades 1-6), please. Incomplete form will be ineligible for free books.

Sylvan Book Adventure Club

Calling all kids between Kindergarten – 8th grade, sign up for the Sylvan Book Adventure Club! Whenever your kids read and finish a book found here, they can take an online quiz and earn points to redeem for prizes!

Quizzes aren't too hard and give around 200 points (if all questions are answered correctly). Then let the kids save their points for a prize from the Prize Library!

TD Bank Summer Reading Program for Kids

It’s easy! Here’s what participating kids need to do:

1. Read 10 books this summer. See suggestions.
2. Print out the Summer Reading Form
3. Write down the names of the books they've read
4. Take the form to the nearest TD Bank
5. Watch $10 be deposited into a new or existing Young Saver Account

Pottery Barn Kids: PBS KIDS is working with Pottery Barn Kids this summer to highlight the importance of reading through the Pottery Barn Kids Summer Reading Challenge.  From May 24 through August 26, families can find activities and tips from PBS KIDS, including a “PBK Favorites” booklist, certificate of completion and bookmark, in stores and online at www.potterybarnkids.com/read. Children that complete the list and bring it to a Pottery Barn Kids location will receive a free book, or parents can enter their child into an online drawing for a backpack full of books. Additionally, PBS KIDS will be providing tips to help families create a literate home at participating Pottery Barn Kids retail locations and on the Summer Reading Challenge website. Education.com: Beginning May 20, families can visit Summer Reading Adventures hosted by Education.com to access a number of summer reading resources, including a “Do-It-Yourself” Reading Camp. “DIY” Reading Camp includes everything parents need to host 10 weeks of learning fun right from their own living rooms and backyards. Each camp week includes a dozen projects and activities, including specially selected PBS KIDS content, for parents and kids to do together. PBS KIDS and Education.com will also encourage families to read over the summer months with the “We’ll Read 10” pledge – which offers families the chance to win one of five Kindle Prize Packs.
