Werther's Original® Baking Caramels are rich and creamy Caramels that are great for baking and making delicious caramel apples.  Made with real butter and fresh  cream, they are perfect for melting and incorporating into your favorite recipes.

I am a huge fan of baking, so I could not wait to get started with my baking gals and show you what I came up with!  I asked that everyone bring their favorite Caramel recipes with them to share!  That way everyone in attendance would not only get the four yummy recipe cards provided by ® Baking Bash MommyParty, but other great ones to fill their recipe boxes!

In addition to being supplied with recipes by Werther’s Original® Baking Bash MommyParty, each guest left with their own bag or Baking Caramels and coupons to purchase more!  Oh and of course we ate and drank till our bellies were full.

I love fall and all that goes with it, including Caramels.   Next up is to figure out a pumpkin caramel recipe!  So many options!  Here are a couple exampled of my recipes and what we made that day:

Caramel Apple Bread

Makes 1 9×5-inch loaf

INGREDIENTS
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup  sugar
2 eggs
2 medium apples (peeled and chopped into small piece)
6-8 Werther’s Original® Baking Caramels (cut into 4 pieces)

DIRECTIONS

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a loaf pan.
  1. Combine the flour, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, or in a standing mixer, cream the butter, vanilla and sugars together until fluffy.
  3. Add  eggs one at a time and combine until mixed well
  4. Slowly add the flour mixture. Stir until well combined.
  5. Slowly  add the apples, and mix together.
Caramel and apple chunks make this bread!
Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Drop  the cut Werther’s Original® Baking Caramels over the batter, then top with the remaining batter. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through (I moved it from the bottom to top shelf).

A cake tester inserted in the center should come out with only clean.

 Salted Caramel-Stuffed Chocolate CookieS

CHOCOLATE COOKIE INGREDIENTS
  • 1 roll (16.5 oz) Pillsbury® refrigerated chocolate chip cookie
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
  • 1/4 cup whipping cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher (coarse) salt
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 15 Werther’s Original® Baking Caramels (unwrapped and cut into half)

Topping
  • 5 Werther’s Original® Baking Caramels, unwrapped
  • 1 tablespoons whipping cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher (coarse) salt (optional--I omitted this from my cookies)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Let cookie dough stand at room temperature 10 minutes to soften. Heat oven to 350°F.
  2. In large bowl, mix cocoa, whipping cream and 1/2 teaspoon salt with wooden spoon until well blended. Crumble cookie dough into cocoa mixture; add chocolate chips, and stir until well blended. Place dough in freezer 15 minutes for easier handling.
  3. Using measuring tablespoon or small ice cream scoop, shape dough into 30 balls. Freeze 15 minutes (if you freeze longer, will be very hard to place a 1/2 Werther’s Original® Baking Caramel inside). Place 1/2 Werther’s Original® Baking Caramel inside each dough ball, covering completely and reshaping ball around caramel. I rolled in my hands to get it back into shape. Place balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  4. Bake 9 to 13 minutes or until edges of cookies are set. Cool on cookie sheets 2 minutes; remove to cooling racks. Cool completely, about 20 minutes.
  5. In small microwave bowl, microwave 5 Werther’s Original® Baking Caramels and 1 tablespoons whipping cream uncovered on High 45 seconds to 1 minute 15 seconds, stirring every 15 seconds or until caramel is melted and mixture is smooth.
  6. Spoon or drizzle caramel over cookies. Just before serving, sprinkle with salt (if desired).
