I admit it, I have never seen a Tim Burton animated movie, so it was a first for the kids and I to watch this film. Since I have not seen any of his other animated films, I can not compare it to his prior animated work!

 

We had a family movie night and I wanted them to be prepared that the dog Sparky does die in the film, thus the premise of Frankenweenie.  Although my daughter was prepared, she honestly sobbed when Sparky died.  My husband sat there comforting  her until he came back to life.   I was shocked at how much the scene effected her!  So if you have tender hearts, preparing them may not work!  My son was not phased and loved the film.  Even though it was an animated film, it was full of humor that adults would laugh at as well.  My husband was cracking up through out the film.  It was a funny movie and the ending was great as everyone came together at the end.  A great addition to your Disney collection or Tim Burton collection!

The great thing about watching a movie at home is checking out all the behind the scenes bonus features! From learning about how the set design team created the world of New Holland to how the puppets were made to "act," you'll be an expert on all things Tim Burton and Frankenweenie once you've seen the film's bonus material!
