Honestly I was not familiar with the story line of this film prior to watching it. I loved the original film and was excited to see what the sequel had in store and it did not disappoint. Familiar characters show up for a new unfamiliar story line to make it one of my favorite Disney sequels. It was amazing to learn more of the back story of Maleficent and why she is the only fey with powers. The film starts out with Aurora accepting Prince Phillip's marriage proposal against Maleficent's wishes. Like any mother, Maleficent doesn't want her daughter to change for a boy and his family. She wants to make sure Aurora stays true to herself and her upbringing. Little does Maleficent know that she will also be on the same journey herself. I don't want to give too much away, but you will get Maleficent's powers and sass, an evil villain, friends who stay by you no matter what, fight scenes and a princess get her happily ever after. This is a must have for Sleeping Beauty fans!
