Swan Princess 25th Anniversary Blu-ray Out Now - make it a family movie night #SwanPrincess #SwanPrincess25

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Golden Globe®-nominate animated classic THE SWAN PRINCESS, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is making the fan-favorite available in brilliant high definition for the first time ever with a collectible anniversary edition Blu-ray and in 4K HDR on digital, both available now.

THE SWAN PRINCESS, a magical, musical animated adventure based on the classic fairy tale "Swan Lake" has captured the hearts of audiences around the world. The winner of the Film Advisory Board Award of Excellence and the Parents' Choice Award, it's the heartwarming story of the beautiful princess Odette, who is transformed into a swan by an evil sorcerer's spell. Held captive at an enchanted lake, she befriends Jean-Bob the frog, Speed the turtle and Puffin the bird. Despite their struggle to keep the princess safe, these good-natured creatures can do nothing about the sorcerer's spell, which can only be broken by a vow of everlasting love.
THE SWAN PRINCESS is bursting with color, dazzling animation, beautiful music and the vocal talents of Jack Palance, John Cleese, Steven Wright, Sandy Duncan and Michelle Nicastro.  The 25 anniversary Blu-ray release includes an all-new featurette entitled “A Look Back, Tease Ahead,” plus a variety of additional archival features.

THE SWAN PRINCESS has a runtime of approximately 90 minutes. The film is rated G.

This past weekend we had a family movie night in honor of the release.  Thanks to the great folks at Sony Home Entertainment, we got to join Princess Odette, Prince Derek, Jean-Bob, Speed and Puffin in the animated take on the classic German fairy tale of a princess who is a swan by day, princess by night.  We made cookie bars, snuggled under a blanket and watched this classic as a family!
This is a nostalgic favorite movie of mine, over the years there have been remakes or sequels, continuations of this film, but nothing beats the classic.  In this movie the Princess and Prince actually get to know each other before they get their happily ever after.  A power-hungry sorcerer curses Princess Odette to  live as a swan  at night.  She can only become human when the moonlight touches here.  True everlasting love is all that can break this spell.  To find out if the spell gets broken, you will need to watch this classic! This movie is full of morals and great lessons that sometimes gets lost in the new movies.
Want to learn how to make these yummy cookie bars?   They are a family favorite!   Just check out the recipe below:

Chocolate Chip Cake Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix (I normally use yellow, but only had white in the house today and it worked fine too)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips, divided
  • 1 tablespoon shortening

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the first six ingredients.
  2. Mix on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in 1-1/2 cups of chocolate chips.
  3. Spread in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan.
  4. Bake at 375 degrees F for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  5. Melt shortening with the remaining chocolate chips (microwave on medium, stirring periodically)
  6. Drizzle melted chocolate over the top (once cooled). Cut into bars.
