Galaxy Cookies for the release of #GuardiansoftheGalaxy #GotGVol2

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is out now on DVD and Blu-ray! Why not check out this fun movie inspired cookie!

Ingredients:
  • Betty Crocker® Sugar Cookie Mix Pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz)
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, margarine  softened (not melted)
  • 1 egg.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • White starts/ pearly ball sprinkles, etc.
  • Violet, Teal, and Black food coloring (I used Black food paste as it was cheaper then buying Black food coloring)
Instructions:
  1. Preheat oven to 375 °(or 350 ° for dark or nonstick cookie sheet).   I like to bake my cookies on a silicone liner or parchment paper.

  2.  Prepare cookies following instructions on the back of the package

  3. Separate the dough  into 3 separate bowls.

  4. Add the teal food color into one bowl, the violet color into the other, and the black into the remaining dough. Mix well.  I did more black then the other two colors.  This gets MESSY.  I would suggest not letting the kids help at this point.  My hands were covered in food coloring from mixing and mashing!

  5.  Next grab a small portion of dough from each color and mix together.  Roll into a ball and then lightly smash down with your hand.

  6. I tried three different methods to get these cookies.   One was  rolling the ball in a sugar/silver sugar mixture.  Two was placing white pearls on the cookies and the third was sprinkling the silver sprinkles on the cookies.
  7.  Place dough 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet (I lined mine with parchment paper).
  8. Bake 7 to 9 minutes (for larger cookies, 8 to 10 minutes) or until edges are light golden brown.
  9. Let cool 1 minute before removing from cookie sheet. Cool completely; store in airtight container.
