Book of Life - Day of Dead ideas #BookOfLife #DayoftheDead #DiadeMuertes

In honor of this year's Day of the Dead, we wanted to revisit the wondrous fantasy-adventure film, The Book Of Life! November 1st is the Day the of Dead!

THE BOOK OF LIFE is a breathtaking animated comedy with a dazzling visual style unlike anything you’ve seen before. Torn between the expectations of his family and the desires of his heart, a young man named Manolo sets off on an epic quest that spans three spectacular worlds in order to reunite with his one true love and defend his village. Not your ordinary fairy tale, THE BOOK OF LIFE is a wondrous fantasy-adventure filled with magic, music and fun!

THE BOOK OF LIFE Blu-ray™ brings culture and comedy into your home with unforgettable special features for parents and kids alike. Continue the fun with an all-new bonus short “The Adventures of Chuy”, highlighting the film’s lovable scene-stealing pet pig. Additionally, relive the musical hits from the film with the “Music Machine” featuring Latin-inspired versions of popular songs by Mumford & Sons, Radiohead, Elvis Presley, Rod Stewart and more!

First up I started with making skull garland.   I took colored tissue paper (four sheets at a time) and placed a skull template on top of it.  Then I did another four skulls.  Next up, you take a long piece of masking tape, I placed the top of each skull on the edge, once they all were in place, just fold over the tape.

A fun and easy decoration for the table is Book of Life themed lanterns.   I took plastic cups and busted out the permanent markers and got creative.  You really can't go wrong, just make a fun designed skull.  Once it is done, place a battery operated tea light under it and instant candle!

Craft idea!   Pick up some foam skull from Halloween craft section.  Use  bejeweled stickers (about $1 each at a couple different stores) to decorate your skulls.  The kit I used included string and foam stickers for eyes and nose.

Other fun ideas to try out with the kids:
