My #PeabodyFrenchRevolution Party! #PeabodyInsiders @FHEInsiders #WABAC

Unleash the fun at home with the hilarious comedy-adventure, DreamWorks Animation’s MR. PEABODY & SHERMAN!  Mr. Peabody (Ty Burrell) is an inventor, scientist and genius who just happens to be a dog. With his son Sherman, he will embark on the most extraordinary adventure imaginable as they race against time to repair history and save the future. “Heartfelt and snappy” (Jessica Herndon, Associated Press), MR. PEABODY & SHERMAN has been hailed by critics as “a great adventure for the entire family” (Mike Wilbur, NBC Newschannel), receiving outstanding audience reaction and a coveted “A” CinemaScore®.

Directed by Rob Minkoff (THE LION KING, STUART LITTLE) and from the team behind family favorite franchises THE CROODS and HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, MR. PEABODY & SHERMAN is “fun” and “fast moving” (A.O. Scott, The New York Times) and features hilarious performances from an incredible voice cast of popular stars including Ty Burrell, Ariel Winter, Stephen Colbert, Leslie Mann, Max Charles, Patrick Warburton and Allison Janney.

MR. PEABODY AND SHERMAN is based upon the beloved characters that first appeared in in the late 1950s and early 1960s animated television series “Rocky and His Friends” and “The Bullwinkle Show,” produced by Jay Ward.

Looking for something fun to do  with the kids and add a flare of history as well?  Why not host a Peabody and Sherman movie event at your house around one of the themes!  I just hosted a  French Revolution themed party  at my house!

You can't have a party with out the invites, so here are some fun printable invites for you to use:

Looking for some activity ideas while dinner is cooking or in my case getting delivered?  Check out these activity sheets:

Make a three cornered hat like above with these instructions here.   These were really simple and fun for the kids.  My daughter took it upon herself to trace out the pattern and cut them out for her friends.   We just used a pack of card stock paper from the craft store.  The pack was located in the scrap-booking area, a little more sturdy and colorful than construction paper.  Then they decorated with markers, feathers and other embellishments that I picked up/

Here are some food ideas to go along with the theme too!  Of course we had to have cake, or should I say cupcakes!    I made pink velvet cupcakes with silver liners to represent Marie Antoinette and her love of cake.  Head down the baking aisle at your craft store and pick up some frosting, fun sprinkles and candies to make the cupcakes complete.  I suggest lining your table with wax paper, this will save on clean-up of frosting and sprinkle spillage.

We also served pizza.  Nothing beats a movie night with the kids, then serving up pizza.   Check your local pizza shops for deals.

The kids all snuggled up on the couch and love seat and I turned off the lights in the living room.  I only left on a couple of mood lights next to the TV to get a movie theater feel.   It also helped that we just got a new 71 inch TV!

The kids loved this movie as did the adults!  Soon after it was over, my son was using a cardboard box from the garage to make his own WABAC machine.  I loved the introduction of  so many historical characters and time periods.  The kids have not covered all the areas yet in school, so it was great to field their questions and explain more about those characters/time period.

This is a great film that showcases an unconventional father and son relationship.  Mr. Peabody is a genius who adopts a boy (Sherman) and they go on many adventures in time. If a boy can adopt a dog, then why can't a dog adopt a boy?  Towards the end of the movie, be prepared to get choked up when Sherman announces he is a dog and his friends from time stand by him and chime in they are dogs too!

This is a great family film and we loved it, it was great to be able to host a party themed around a time period in the movie and share it with some neighborhood kids!

Purchase Mr. Peabody & Sherman (Blu-ray / DVD + Digital Copy) on Amazon for $18.96 & FREE Shipping on orders over $35.

Disclosure: I am a Fox Home Entertainment Insider.  I will receive a copy of the movie and giftcard to purchase craft supplies .  No other compensation was received
