Kick off Fourth of July weekend with the Great American Wine Company #review

Settle in for some fireworks this holiday with a delicious glass of the Great American Wine Company which recently launched a line of three varietals with a distinctly American look.  Each variant makes the perfect accompaniment for celebrating America’s independence with close friends, and the red, white and blue bottles provide the perfect patriotic touch! The Great American Wine Company is a proud supporter of the USO who will receive a $100,000 donation to support its efforts to provide thousands of programs for US troops and their families worldwide. The three varieties offered include:
  • Cabernet Sauvignon- This Cabernet has a bold, rugged character and dark fruit flavors.
  • Red Blend- Zinfandel-based, this blend is balanced and fruit-forward, with luscious cherry and raspberry flavors.
  • Chardonnay-The Chardonnay shows a stone fruit and citrus profile, with soft vanilla tones
Juicy and satisfying, our 2012 Red Blend offers bold flavors with friendly, laidback demeanor. The blend is dominated Zinfandel, the classic American grape, and expertise of Rosenblum Cellars history of winemaking. Red fruits lead the nose with dark cherries, black raspberries and vanilla pie crust. The palate is rich and velvety with balanced tannins and a lasting fruit imprint on the finish. A perfect companion to barbecue, pair this medium-bodied blend with grilled steaks or ribs.

I am not a huge red wine fan, but this 2012 Red Blend is something different!  It reminds me of a Zinfandel white wine, but red!  It had a very distinct cherry flavor mixed with a hint of vanilla.  Two of my favorite flavors mixed together in a wine! A fun way to serve this wine is as a sangria.  Chill the wine, add some of your favorite fruit, a little sugar, ginger ale and a funny fruity twist on wine!

Celebrate America’s Independence with good food, friends and some delicious red, white and blue libations! But always remember to drink responsibly!  With a launch donation of $100,000 committed to the USO, this all-American brand is dedicated to preserving and celebrating what it means to be a citizen of this country.
