@KalahariResorts Part 1: The food! #Ohio #sponsored

This past weekend I was fortunate enough to be invited to a  blogger event at Kalahari Resorts in Sandusky Ohio.  This was my family's first trip to Kalahari and it was memorable!   I am going to do a three post feature on different aspects of Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio.  Tonight's feature is all about the food!

Kalahari has so many great dining options and I personally was able to try out three different eateries!   First up experience an African themed world at The Reserve.  The Reserve features a menu that can only be described as nothing short of amazing. There is something for everyone at The Reserve Restaurant and Bar, from traditional American fare, signature drinks, to fun kid menu selections.

Let me tell you the food is amazing here and the portions are huge.  We started off dinner with  loaded potato poppers.  These delicious little balls are a great combo of mashed potatoes, peppers, cheese, onions all rolled together and covered with potato sticks.   Small bites of heaven, with each mouthful!   My dinner was absolutely divine! Veggies, chicken, yummy sauce, 12-20 year aged soy sauce, rice, what is not to love.  Hubby went for prime rib that came with the biggest asparagus stalks and garlic mashed potatoes that make my mouth water just thinking about them.  Like I said, the portions were large, I took my leftovers back to the room, so I could savor my Teriyaki Chicken Fire Pot Stir Fry

Kids dined on the all you could eat kids buffet!  It had all the kid favorites:  mini corn dogs, mac and cheese, pasta with meatballs, chicken nuggets, french fries, pizza, corm and green beans!  Another cool feature of the kid's buffet was that each kid got a $10 arcade card as part of their dine and play program!

The  Great Karoo Marketplace  features a dinner buffet that has Italian cuisine and breakfast buffet that is the best breakfast buffet you will ever eat.  Breakfast buffet was only $13.99 an adult and $8.99 a child.   It is totally worth every penny!  We spotted and tried many a breakfast items that you would not normally spy on a buffet, a variety of eggs, different french toasts, pancakes, oatmeal, fruit, etc.  They even had smoothies!  Kids loved that our waitress brought them out hot chocolate with whipped cream on top.  They never get that for breakfast at home.  The decor was pretty amazing too.  I loved the colors, lights, wall art, etc.  While the family was finishing up, I just stared around at how beautiful the restaurant really was!

If you are having way to much fun in the waterpark, then grab a quick snack or dinner at one of the many waterpark dining locations.   We opted to eat lunch at the Zulu Grille and the trend of large portions, does not stop at the restaurants. The Zulu Grille gave a heaping portion of fries or onion rings with each meal.  My husband was able to eat his entire buffalo chicken sandwich, but I couldn't.  Kids loved their chili cheese dog and nuggets, but I think they loved scoring slushes for lunch.  We were on a mini-vacation, so we splurged!  The delight on their little faces when I said they could have slushes was priceless!

Looking to  fill the sweet tooth craving?  Then look no further than the Candy Hut.  The Candy Hut serves up bulk candy, pop corn, ice cream, chocolate covered anything you can imagine and fudge!  We picked up some gummie worms, swedish fish and of course cones for the kids.  My son opted for a chocolate dipped cone with blue moon ice cream, while my daughter wen for a vanilla sprinkled dipped cone  with root beer float ice cream.  Weird combos, but they loved it!

Another fun feature is they offer free cookie decorating and eating daily at the activities kiosk/Cafe Mirage!  Kids and adults will each be given a sugar cookie and have their choice of frostings and sprinkles!  It was a great time to sit and relax and share a sweet treat with the kids!

Stay tuned for Kalahari Resorts Part 2:  Fabulous and fun dry activities!
