#Sleepover / #Birthday Party on a Budget!

This month was a big month for my daughter!  She played on a traveling soccer team and made it to tournament round 2, not too shabby for the first season playing together.  She turned 8 as well this month.  But the one thing that was a highlight for her was having her very own sleepover!  So of course Mommy went to work planning her first ever sleepover!

Thanks to the great folks at Oriental Trading, they sent me some items to get the party started.

We had a total of 10 girls at my house, so up first was the goodie bags!. In each one they had from Oriental Trading:
  • Slumber Party Tote Bags With Marabou Trim (IN-70/3373) -  1 dozen    -  $15.00
  • Daisy & Heart Lip Gloss Rings (IN-24/1465) - 1 - dozen  - $8.50
  • Slumber Party Pencils (IN-70/3355) 1 set -  $3.49
Each bag also contained the classic  candy lipsticks, bracelets, rings and necklaces that I score for $1 a bag a 5 below stores!

Craft time!  I figured with 10 girls we would need something to pass the time and what little girl doesn't love crafts!  So I  went to JoAnns and picked up a mask making kit for $3 and then wood owls for the girls to decorate for $.17 each!  The markers I already had! Not only that Oriental trading sent me:
  • DIY Mini Flashlight Key Chains  (IN-57/9303) -  1 dozen       - $5.25
The DIY Mini Flashlight Key Chains were a huge hit and not only did the girls get to decorate them and use them that night, they colored the area that light shined thru.  Then one of them got the idea to head into the bathroom without the lights on and shine their brightly colored flashlights  all over the pace and have a Disco Party in the bathroom!!!

You can't get full effect with the lights on, but it was pretty cute!
My son of course had to get in on the action and color the extra flashlight for his room!

Of course you can not forget to get all the tableware and place settings and that is another place the Oriental trading comes in!  I already had some items at home (prev. purchase from Oriental Trading) and then mixed them with the items sent by Oriental Trading and pulled off some great tables!
  • Paper Dinner Plates - Candy Pink (IN-70/7344) - set  - $4.25
  • Candy Pink Polka Dot Beverage Napkins (IN-3/8085) 1 set  - $2.00
  • Candy Pink Reversible Table Runner (IN-3/6167) 1 set -3.50
  • Fresh Lime-Colored Table Cover (IN-70/1295) 1 set -   $1.50
  • Candy Pink Paper Cups (IN-70/7341) 1 set - $3.00
The one thing I did realize with kids, is they are not ones to re-use.  So when planning on having a number of kids over, have extra plates, napkins, cups on hand!

I honestly had no idea how much food these little girls would eat. It surprised me how much they did each and could of still ate if I had not taken away the leftovers!

Food:
Soda - $.67 a 2 liter
Grapes - $.97 a lb
Chex Mix - $.99 a bg
Pretzels - $.99 a bag
Cheese/Caramel corn - $3 a bag
2 deli pizzas from Walmart - $6 each

Ice Cream Sundae Bar
Sprinkles, mini marshmallows, syrups, whipped topping and of course ice cream.   We had everything in the house but the ice cream and that was $2.98

To finish the night, the girls snuggled in their sleeping bags and watched Tangled.  I had hoped they would fall asleep during the movie, but giggles and whispers filled the night!

If you are looking to host a sleepover, plan a birthday party or even a classroom party then look to Oriental Trading!  I have been a fan for years and shop online all the time. I always looked to them for my classroom/room mom party goodies.  I had no idea I could get such cute items for a sleepover until they reached out.  The girls love the set up, colors and everything about the sleepover, while the moms loved that I was so organized and had it all coordinated and planned out!

Thank you Oriental Trading for making the first ever sleepover for a number of these girls a success!
