COSI Center of Science & Industry - Discover, Explore, Learn and have a blast! #OHIO

COSI, Columbus, Ohio's dynamic Center of Science and Industry, inspires the scientists, dreamers, and innovators of tomorrow.  COSI  was  named America's #1 science center by Parents Magazine. COSI brings science to life through more than 300 interactive experiences, world-class exhibitions, the 7-story Extreme Screen Theater, an outdoor science park, a special area for young explorers from birth through kindergarten, and the country's only high-wire unicycle. COSI features something new to discover every day, including live shows, special events, family programs, overnight and summer camps, and challenging workshops for students and teachers. Created in 1964, COSI has served over 25 million people through our 320,000-square-foot science center and our nationally-recognized outreach programs, including COSI on Wheels and Electronic Education. Let COSI open the door to real science and real possibilities for you!

COSI is located in beautiful downtown Columbus, Ohio!  So not only while you are in Columbus visiting COSI, check out the great dining, shopping and culture in the area!  Since it is over an hour and a half drive, we made an entire day of it.   My husband and I had visited the COSI in Toledo, while in college, but this was the first time as a family visiting.  The kids had a blast!  We started our visit with a 3D movie.  We chose Flying Monster (also showing was Sharks and Meercats in 3D),  the 3D technology and CGI to bring the story of giant flying monsters and their prehistoric world to life.   I honestly had no idea there were so many types of flying dinosaurs, let alone how they evolved.  It was quiet interesting and very informative!  I was truly impressed as the 40 minutes passed by quickly and the kids sat there watching it and loving it!

The kids loved the Ocean area!  Not only were they able to learn about water and its properties, they got to play, shot water streams, and climb into an actual submarine!  It was amazing!  We had a blast attempting to balance balls on water chutes,  checking out the waves in the aquarium, etc.   Head off to Space and explore and become an astronaut for the day.  Venture off to progress and watch your kids see what life was like over the years.  The kids had a blast exploring and asking tons of questions about what life was like. My son was enthralled with Telephone Company and loved connecting calls, plugging and unplugging the chip and pretending he was the telephone operator!

Not only are there hand on exhibits, but shows, moving science carts, a kiddie space, a big kid space, dining, shopping and more! COSI is continually bringing in new exhibits and currently they are featuring a Lego exhibit!  Perfect for any Lego fan!

Until January 13, builders of all ages are invited to explore, build and play in LEGO® Castle Adventure! In this exhibit, kids and their families are transported to a LEGO® kingdom where they can become master castle builders.

In LEGO Castle Adventure, visitors can build brick castles, learn about real-world castles and their building secrets, and plan their ideal castle’s defenses.

Younger visitors can dress up in costume, joust on “horseback” and explore the castle grounds. Older kids can build a virtual catapult-proof wall, then test it with our giant LEGO catapult.

Don't miss out and make a trip to  COSI this weekend!  Stay tuned as more cool exhibits will be coming this year!

Disclosure:  My family received free admission to COSI plus the movie in exchange  for this post!
