One of my favorite memories as a child was to get into our PJs, gather the blankets, get in the car, and drive with my family to gaze at all the Christmas lights in people’s yards. We would spend hours in the car, going from street to street trying to find the best house. I even remember some of the homes that Santa and Mrs. Claus would be and and we would pad across the snow to see them and get our candy canes and tell good old Santa what we wanted for Christmas.
Fun tips:
- Make hot chocolate, put it in portable mugs and take a drive through some of the nicely decorated neighborhoods.
- Bring some cookies and milk for the kids
- Jam out to holiday music and sing as a family as you are gazing at the lights!
If there aren't too many houses in your area lightening up, don't forget some fairgrounds set up displays to drive thru, watch the newspaper for churches' putting on Living Nativities, lights at the zoo!
Think of all the room you would have in a new Kia Sorento to look at lights!
