#ShopLocal Event: Celebrating Your Local Neighborhood #ToyStoreDay – November 10th #localtoystore @TheWoohooFactor

The Neighborhood Toy Store Day is almost here! The 3rd annual Neighborhood Toy Store Day is  on Saturday, November 10th. The special day helps celebrate the benefits of shopping local; participating toy stores will host in-store events and activities for the entire family!    I don't know about you, but I love shopping local and finding those small stores that specialize in items.  The little local toy stores are always the best as they are not over commercialized and the kids don't get over stimulated in there either!

When you shop local the community benefits too! It is a win win when you are shopping at your local toy store. ASTRA (the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association) wants you to remember your local neighborhood toy stores for your Christmas shopping this year where you can find high quality toys.

Neighborhood Toy Store Day introduces families to the fun of shopping locally and celebrates each toy store’s commitment to the community. The annual event is coordinated by the non-profit organization ASTRA. To find a local Neighborhood Toy Store Day event near  you visit the new website yourneighborhoodtoystore.org .”
Just check out some of the toys you might find in your Neighborhood Toy Store:
Fun, unique educational games from a Local Toy Store
When you buy from locally-owned businesses like toy stores that are members of the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association (ASTRA), more of your dollar stays in your community.
  • Dollars spent at locally-owned stores create a multiplier effect in the local economy.   For each dollar you spend at independent businesses in your community, three or more times as much typically goes back into the local economy compared to a dollar spent at retailer owned by a chain.
  • More sales tax revenue is generated for your local jurisdiction if you shop locally rather than leaving your town or county for malls and big box stores.

Gift-shoppers searching for quality and value this holiday season will not have to look far--they can find the best toys for kids right around the corner at their neighborhood toy store. The American Specialty Toy Retailing Association (ASTRA) is excited to share their 2012 Best Toys for Kids Award Winners.  Head on over here and check them out by age groups!
