I was recently asked to participate in the Kia Social Club cheer and blog to you about travel tips with kids and how to keep the kids entertained while road tripping! With the holidays coming up a number of us will be hitting the road for possible a weekend trip or a cross-country road trip.  As a parent I do know that travel with kids and pets can be full of challenges.

Below you will find some tips on traveling with kids this holiday season:
  • Frequent Stops! Road trips, especially those that take more than a few hours, can be hard on  children. Sometimes a quick bathroom break or to stop and stretch  your legs will make all the difference in the world.
  • Pack Extra!   I always feel like we are packing way more then what we need for a trip, but it can come in handy.
  • Keep the kids occupied!  Bring their MP3 player with some new tunes on it, them bobbing their head to their own music while looking out the window will keep them occupied for a while Portable DVD Players are another great way to keep children occupied during holiday travel is DVD players. Bring along your children's favorite movies. A movie lasts about and hour and half to two hours and gives children something to focus on other than time. Books are a must for our holiday travel.   Reading transports the kids other places and takes their mind off of where they are.
  • Games!  Make up your own games, we play the license plate game, ABC game, I SPY, etc.
  • Snacks & Drinks!  Bring plenty of snacks and drinks... you never know if the next rest stop or gas station will be open!  It is also a plus not to hear "Mom, I'm Hungry"
  • Allow Plenty of Time for Holiday Travel!  Kids pick up on tension and feeling rushed.  Leaving a little early can help with bad  attitudes and temper tantrums. No one likes to feel rushed!
