I am dreaming of a makeover!!! #WindowStyle

In writing this post, I’m entering the Microsoft Windows Style Makeover Sweepstakes for a chance to win a head to toe makeover!

In a  month I will be attending my first blogging conference ever! I started this little blog in 2009 to share deals and such with my friends and it has expanded so much over the years.   Well the kids will be with grandparents and hubby will be making the trip with me to NYC.  I am super excited to be attending in such a glamorous city and want to make the most of this experience, including running my first 5K ever in the BlogHer 5K!  Another fabulous perk is Windows is awarding dream makeover of a lifetime to some bloggers. Any of the women entering would truly deserve it!

Who wouldn't want to win a dream makeover?  I have  always wanted a makeover, but it has never been in the cards.  I love watching the makeover shows on TV and dream it was me. Even when I am getting my hair cut, I look at those books of before and after picks and secretly hope that when I wheel around in my chair I will be transformed into a glamorous mom!  Heck even when they have the backyard makeovers, I peer down the hardware store aisles in hopes that a TV crew will be there to surprise me.  Crazy?  Yes, but a gal can hope!

As moms know, we put everyone else in front of us.  I seem to be buying the kids new clothes and shoes all the time as they are constantly growing!  Even when I get a gift card for my birthday to Old Navy to buy myself something, I seem to use it on the kids and hubs.  I would rather do without to make sure the kids have what they need!  That being said, I still long for a make over or  day of pampering.  With  working a full time job, a family (married for 12 year with a 6 1/2 yr old daughter and 5 year old son), carting kids to sports, helping with homework and blogging in the evening, my free time is non-existent. But I wouldn’t trade it for the world. My kids and my family are worth it and make my life complete.

So why do I need a makeover?

While in college and there after, I ran all the time.  I stopped running once I found out I was pregnant in 2004. Unfortunately we lost that baby due to a miscarriage and I still had the 12 weeks of baby weight to show for it too.  After what seemed to be the longest six months ever, we got pregnant again.  So on top of not losing the first pregnancy weight, I added the pounds on with a new pregnancy.  Then nine months after my daughter was born, I was pregnant again with my son.   I resided myself that I would never get  back to a size 6 and I thought that I was okay with it.  I know you should be happy in your own skin, but the last few months I have just not been happy and decided to do something about it!

I started with just walking.  Everyday on my lunch break at work, I get up and put on my sneakers and walk 2-3 miles outside.  Then at night would get the kids involved and we would take the dogs for a walk.  When I got the email from Blog Her about a 5K, I said what the heck.  If I am walking over 18-24,000 steps a day (per my pedometer), I can do a 5K.   So the nightly walks have now turned into runs. Some mornings, my alarm goes off and I get a mile in prior to getting ready for work.  I am seeing the difference.  I can now run further and faster!  My clothes are all too big, depending on the brand, I am between an 8-10!!!  Woot Woot! I have more energy and I am getting compliments on my weight loss!
Seriously I was so thin and cute!  Want it back!
Over a year and half a go, can see the weight in my face and the circle!

So onto a list of why I am hoping to be a part of the Microsoft Windows Style Makeover event happening in NYC during BlogHer12:
  • All my clothes are too big for me!   Yay for weight loss, but now I have resorted to belting my pants.  They look big, like I am going to bust out into MC Hammer dance moves.
  • When I am home from work, I seem to gravitate towards the  same stuff... jeans, hoodies, t-shirts, sneakers, etc.   Would love to be able to learn how to glam it up even on the weekends with flats and stylish jeans even.  I definitely have that "mom" style down pat!
  • I want to be stylish, I really do... I seem to buy stuff that looks cute on display, but just doesn't fit my body type. Heck I just was looking at a top in my closet, so cute on the hanger, but in a recent photo it did not hang right.  Made me look as if my belly had multiple rolls.  Note to self ... pitch that top!  I need help, knowing what to look for, what is my style, etc.
  • I have not changed my hair style in the last few years!  I know it works, it is something I can get done in a certain amount of time, but would love a change.
  • I seem to have the everlasting bags under my eyes.   I sleep as much as time allows, drink plenty of water, etc.  I honestly don't know how to get rid of them... only thing that comes to mind is Vampires seem to never have  circles, where is Edward when ya need him?
  • Since I am blonde/blue eyed, I always have a pale washed out complexion.  I make a point of always wearing sunscreen.   I am so white that I joke that I work hard to be this pasty.  Don't worry, although I am so pasty white, I do have a reflection in the mirror!!!
So what do I envision my style dream to be like?  I am not looking to be transformed into cat-walk ready style.  I would love to be able to be stylish like Reese Witherspoon.  She is so natural and every time you see her she is beautiful looking! She is a mom, who can not only glam it up but look super cute and stylish while running errands.

I told my husband that over the years he has gotten better looking.  I feel that is the opposite for me!  Kids, age, etc.  have all taken a toll on my body and I am slowing working to get it back!  I just want to be cute again. That’s why I’m hoping to be a part of the Microsoft Windows Style Makeover event happening in NYC during BlogHer12. Fingers crossed!!!

Side Note to readers:  If you will be in NYC while the 5K is going on, feel free to cheer me on!  Running at home is different than a race.  I am sure I will be the woman at the end crying because I did it and then puking from the nerves!  But all worth it in the end right!    If you are attending Blog Her wave and say HI!!  I am a newbie and would love to meet you!
