-For those with a significant other, there is a certain expectation of giving and receiving a gift on February 14.
-The National Retail Federation forecasts that consumers will spend 8.5% more on Valentine's Day this year bringing the average spending to $126.03 per person, or a total of $17.6 billion.
-The NRF said Valentine's Day spending is projected to hit its highest level in the survey's 10-year history (a sign that the economy is moving in the right direction).
-Half the Valentine's Day shoppers will be buying candy for that special someone. Another 36 percent will get flowers and dine out. A total of 19 percent of shopper will buy jewelry, which is an increase from 17 percent last year.
