YoCrunch Greek review/giveaway and printable coupon!

I love YoCrunch yogurt and was excited to hear about the YoCrunch Greek line! I was sent 2 regular YoCrunch coupons and 3 Greek coupons.  Well to share the love with my readers, I used 1 regular and 1 Greek and saved the remaining 3 for giveaways!!!!

YoCrunch Greek Yogurt is thick, creamy & high in protein! I love the juicy fruit in the bottom and crunchy granola at the top!  The creamy Greek Yogurt in the middle makes it a delicious snack or in my case a yummy lunch!  They have 4 different varieties to choose from: Strawberry, Peach, Blueberry, and Honey.
About YoCrunch Greek:
"Americans continue to search for affordable options to meet a growing desire for Greek yogurt. Many moms are also searching for Greek yogurt options that offer a taste their kids will love.

YoCrunch has introduced the first Greek yogurt with convenient mix in granola topping attached. With 11 grams of protein and a sweeter flavor, YoCrunch’s Greek Yogurt is a value that’s available in four flavors: Strawberry, Blueberry, Peach and Honey. YoCrunch Greek is an affordable $1.09 to $1.39 per six ounce container as compared to nearly $2 for brands with similar sizes.

It’s the perfect choice for moms and kids who want the extra health benefits of Greek, without the tang that many yogurt fans don’t enjoy. With 3 to 6 grams more protein than traditional yogurt, it’s no wonder Greek yogurt continues to experience growth: Business Insider says Greek yogurt has grown by 100 percent.

Head on over and "Like" YoCrunch on Facebook and print a $1.00 off  2 coupon!

On to the Giveaway (US entries only):

Hannah and the Talking Tree review and giveaway

Children's environmental book teaches about the power of personal action Author and illustrator Elke Weiss has created a children's book specially designed to plant the seeds of environmental activism in the next generation.
Hannah is a little girl with a special and unique gift. She has very, very big ears which enable her to hear things in the world all around her that other people do not notice. She can hear the grass grow, the wind sing, and the ants march one by one. Unfortunately, she is teased and criticized by other children for her ears. In the forest she finds and befriends a very special and solitary tree and learns about the tragic fate of the trees around her. And now the last tree is threatened as well. Is there any way to save the lone tree from destruction? Will anyone listen to Hannah's cry for help? Instead of just giving up, Hannah decides to be brave and do something herself to help save the tree and create a world worthwhile living in.
Hannah and the Talking Tree’is a children s book specially designed to plant the seeds of environmental activism in the next generation. Printed on recycled paper. Gold Medal winner of the 2010 Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards. It was featured in the Washington Post and several parenting magazines.

This is a great children’s book! The artwork is  beautifully done and the story too cute! The pages are thick and glossy, printed on recycled paper.  A beautifully crafted book with a great story!   I always tell my kids, God gave them two ears to listen and only one mouth, so it is best to listen!  The same is true for Hannah, she was given tow big ears for a reason!  Hannah was picked on because of her large ears, but her ability to hear nature is a special gift and toward the end of the story,  others come to accept her differences.

I love how this story depicts  how being different is ok. Everyone is different and unique and that is okay!  I can not wait to check out the rest of the Hannah books!

You can currently purchase Hannah and the Talking Tree over at Amazon for $16.95 & eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25.

Thanks to the wonderful author Elkie Weiss, one lucky OneMommaSavingMoney reader (US only) will win a copy of the book!

The winner will be chosen by random.org

How to Make Homemade Tomato Sauce

Please note, I do not consider myself an expect of canning! This is just what I have learned the last few years  of having a garden!!!

Step 1- Get your tomatoes, washed and ready.
I have my own garden and just use whatever is ripe. I do not measure out my tomatoes, just whenever I have a couple gallon bags full of them, I start canning. I only have two small raised gardens.

Step 2 - Get the jars and lids sanitized
If you have a dishwasher, use the "sanitize" cycle for the jars. I don't have a dishwasher, so I submerge the jars in a large pot (I use a large soup pot) of water and bring it to a boil.

For the lids, I use a small pot of water. Place the lids in the boiling water for at least several minutes.

Step 3 - Remove the tomato skins and seeds
Boil yet another pot of water. Place the tomatoes, a few at a time into of boiling water for no more than 1 minute.  Then submerge them into a bowl of ice water. This will help the skins slide right off!!!

Once the skins are removed, Then cut the tomatoes in quarters and remove the tough part around the stem and any bruised or soft parts.

Next just use your fingers to scoop out most of the seeds.

Step 4 - Drain the tomatoes
When you are scooping out the seeds, place the tomatoes into a colander while you work on rest. I place the colander in the sink, so the excess water of the tomatoes just drain into sink. This helps more of the water to drain off.

Step 5 - Cook the tomatoes!
Combine the tomatoes in a big pot. Boil it down to thicken the sauce. Simmer until sauce reaches desired consistency.

Don't overcook it; just bring it to boil at the end to sanitize it and cook down the tomatoes.
The tomatoes will fall apart into sauce. But if they do not, here is another helpful hint: pour tomato sauce into blender and blender. Caution it will be HOT!!!

Step 6 - Fill the jars with sauce
Use a canning jar funnel and pour the hot sauce into the hot jars. Fill them to within ¼-inch of the top, then add 1-2 Tablespoons of lemon juice to the top. This will help reduce the chance of spoilage.

Step 7 - Add the lids and rings to the jars
Make sure to wipe down he top of the jars, to remove any left over tomato sauce that may have spilled. Place on the lids and the screw on the rings.

Step 8 - Boil the jars again!!!
Place the tomato sauce into the large pot, keep them covered with at least 1 inch of water. I used the same pot I previously used in the beginning. Keep the water boiling 35 minutes for pints and 40 minutes for quarts.

Remove from water and place on a towel and wait for the magical bings! I use the tomato sauce through out the year for spaghetti, chili, you name it. Just add desired seasoning then.

This is what I use for my garden space (pic at the beginning of the season).  Hubby made them for me!!!

Learn How We Can Light Their Way to a Better Future

Join P&G's GIVE Education to School the Nation!

Every nine seconds of each school day, a young person drops out of high school in the U.S. P&G’s new campaign, GIVE Education, will increase awareness of the student dropout crisis in the U.S. and raise funds to help keep millions of students in school. By partnering with Communities In Schools (CIS), one of the nation’s leading dropout prevention organizations, and one that is proven to increase graduation rates and decrease dropout rates, GIVE Education will enable CIS to continue channeling much-needed resources to students who are at greatest risk of dropping out.

Campaign spokesperson John Legend joins the initiative to generate additional awareness of America’s dropout crisis and the GIVE Education campaign. With a long track record of philanthropic work and deep commitment to education, Legend will be featured in the campaign’s national television spot, as well as in the dedicated GIVE Education brandSAVER coupon booklet and Facebook page.
Consumers can take simple steps to help “School the Nation” – and help keep kids in school. Here are a few easy ways to get started:
  1. Save and Do Good: Look for special P&G brandSAVER coupons in your local newspaper on Sunday, July 31. For each coupon redeemed, P&G will donate two cents to CIS. Find out where to get your P&G brandSAVER on Facebook. The uncapped donation will be based on the number of coupons redeemed beginning July 31 – the more you save, the more you give. Most coupons expire after four weeks.
  2. Watch to Donate: Watch an exclusive video from John Legend on Facebook where for each view, P&G will donate $.25 to CIS, up to $10,000.
  3. Spread the Word: Use the embeddable photos and video on this site to alert your readers to how they can help School the Nation!
P&G has improved life for more than 300 million children around the world and focused its efforts on helping children in need get off to a healthy start, receive access to education and build skills for life. GIVE Education will enable P&G to touch even more lives by bringing together the power of P&G's education commitment and reach, CIS's innovative programs, and Grammy Award-winning recording artist and philanthropist John Legend's passion for education.

My Coke Rewards Schools Program

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of My Coke Rewards for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

MCR_School_Blogger_0706[1].pdf (page 3 of 3)

Have you heard  of the My Coke Rewards Schools Program?  With My Coke rewards for schools you donate points to your school, so it can get rewards like art supplies and sports equipment, and support all the ways kids play. Even the smallest point contribution can lead to great things for students in your community.

Through the online loyalty program MyCokeRewards.com, parents and school communities can donate their MCR points and give local schools a way to get sports and playground equipment, art and music supplies and technology resources to supplement their educational programs for students.  at $400,000.

Authorized representatives of the school can easily register the school to participate in this program by going to mycokerewards.com/schools and clicking on “Register Today.”  My Coke Rewards for Schools is open to accredited schools, grades K-12, in the U.S. (and D.C). The School Coordinator role is a key part of a successful school program, and is usually filled by a faculty person or PTA/PTO member. School Coordinators are responsible for encouraging point donations from parents and community members. They also manage the school's account, including redemption of rewards.

Don't see your school?  Parents and administrators should  register their schools in the program if they haven’t already so they can make great things happen for their students.    Then the next step is to get the word out!!!   Encourage parents, teachers and other members of the community to sign up for My Coke Rewards if they haven’t already so they can begin donating points to their schools.

Join My Coke Rewards and donate your points to  schools.  Every little bit helps!

Plus from July 13 through September 30, Sprite is giving away 25 playgrounds, worth $25,000, to schools and are giving consumers who purchase and enter a code from any package of Sprite/Sprite Zero an entry into the sweepstakes to help their school win. In addition, every three points donated to the school through the Sprite Spark Parks for Schools sweepstakes will give the school additional chances. Any new school that registers will be given a chance to win.

Fotolia - royalty free stock images Review and Giveaway (3 winners)

Are you a blogger in constant search for the perfect image for a post?  Or are you mom of a child who needs images for school reports, projects, etc and spend hours looking for the right image?   Neither one of the above, but like to use images for your own projects?  Then I got some news for you!

Sometimes you just have to pay for images, but let me tell you  it is worth it. You don’t use the same images everyone does and you are not worried if you are using a copyrighted image.   I have found a new   favorite site for purchasing images:  Fotolia.com!   Just think hot studious your child will look if they use quality photos in their assignements!  How they will make your blog pop, etc.!

You all know I do giveaways and I use the same free "winner" image that just about all the other bloggers use to.  Well tonight I just got a new image courtesy of Fotolia!  Seriously how much better is this photo?

© iQoncept

Fotolia is the first worldwide social marketplace for royalty free stock images, allowing individuals and professionals to legally buy and share stock images and illustrations. Fotolia offers the largest image bank of free and affordable royalty free photos and illustrations perfect for any medium, web or print.
Photographers and designers constantly update Fotolia with thousands of new photos and illustrations each day, while photographers and designers receive commission from each photo sold and revenue from advertising on the free section.

To find the right photo for your needs, you can search by keyword, or browse by category, gallery, tag, etc.  Since I started blogging I have tons of photos on my blog. I haven’t paid for them all, some are mine, etc., but there are many reasons I have had a need to buy photos:
  • Some images I need are just hard to find online for free.
  • No time to spend hours searching online for the perfect free image
  • Images you buy are available in a variety of formats and sometimes one needs a JPEG and not a bitmap or GIF!
Fotolia offers two pricing models: (1) subscription and (2) credits. Standard subscriptions start at $199 for one month. One would be able  to download 25 large photos a day (750 total downloads). The standard subscription only includes JPEG images. If you want to download vector artwork and videos, then you need a premium subscription. Pricing for the premium subscription starts at $249 for one month.

Credits are their form of currency. Credits are used to buy images on the website. (Credit from $0.75)
Image prices are given in credits; the price depends on the size and use of the purchased image.    So if you find an image that is just 1 credit, you only spend $.75!  so much better than searching the web!  That is a deal in my book!

Want to try out Fotolia for yourself?  Well guess what?  I got a giveaway for you!  Three lucky OneMommaSavingMoney readers will each win a 14-day Fotolia subscription (3 image downloads per day).

The winner will be chosen by random.org

Why yes, that is a crazy flower in my hair and I LOVE it!

My son is 4 and attends preschool/daycare.  The children get re-warded with tickets if they do something nice, like helping clean with out being asked, etc.   The children are then able to cash their tickets in for various things, a special lunch with a teacher,  coloring books, stickers, etc. The kids also get visited by the bookmobile twice a month.and sometimes they each get to pick a prize out of a prize bin for "reading".

I am not sure if it was tickets my son cashed in or if it was a prize from the bookmobile, but he felt his mommy needed flowers.   Thus he bought me a barrette with three yellow/orange Hibiscus flowers on it.   He asked that I wear it till bed time, as he wanted everyone to see how pretty it was.  I of course obliged!

He previously purchased me a foam ring, as he though his mommy should have pretty things!   Watch out ladies, my little guy is going to swoon one of  your daughters some day!    He is already making my heart melt!

Cold-EEZE and Kids-EEZE perfect for back to school!

As we enter back to school season, it’s time to pack the children’s bags full of tissue, hand sanitizer and, to catch colds become they get too bad, Kids-EEZE! Despite it being the summer, kids are actually susceptible to having up to 12 colds a year so it’s best to be prepared year-round. Kids-EEZE, from the maker of Cold-EEZE, is an over-the-counter (OTC) homeopathic cough remedy. The product helps to relieve symptoms of not only colds but also for allergies and chest relief with its Soft Chews. Kids-EEZE is available in Grape and Strawberry flavors and serves as a portable and mess-free way to travel, go to school, camp, soccer practice, etc. Kids-EEZE is approved for children over the age of 6.

For high school and college students, Cold-EEZE is the best thing to keep on hand to help stave off any cold symptoms. Cold-EEZE is a cold remedy family of lozenges clinically proven to significantly reduce the severity and duration of the common cold. Cold-EEZE contains zinc gluconate glycine which scientists believe attacks the cold virus and blocks it from permeating the mucous membranes. Cold-EEZE lozenges and sugar free tablets are available in a variety of great tasting flavors. Cold-EEZE is approved for people over the age of 12.

I was sent a sample of Cold-EEZE to try out.   I think the people at Cold-EEZE had a premonition that a summer cold was about to hit me!  When I get a cold the main things that I have to deal with is stuffy nose and the sore throat.   The minute I felt the cold starting to hit, I grabbed the box of Cold-EEZE!   Cold-EEZE helps with symptoms cough, stuffy nose, sore throat, sneezing, post nasal drip and hoarseness. I love that this helped with the two main thing that bothers me.   I also enjoyed the flavor!  It was a nice change to not have the super medicine flavored lozenge.  Call me crazy, but I swear I started to feel the effects soon after having one!

Cold-EEZE treatment should begin within 24-48 hours of the start of a cold and be used daily until all symptoms resolve. The earlier, the better. Completely dissolve a Cold-EEZE lozenge in your mouth. Do not chew. Repeat every 2 to 4 hours as needed.  Next time you feel a cold starting reach for the Cold-EEZE!
