Summer Reading Programs

Don't forget to sign up your kids and possibly yourself for your local summer reading programs at your local library.    I signed up for an adult reading program (at my local library) and each week I submit what books I finished.   I did the same thing last year and won a gift-card!

Barnes and Noble Kids Summer Reading Program
  1. Kids read any eight (8) books of their choosing.
  2. Record them in the Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Imagination’s Destination
Journal. Be sure to let us know to whom you would recommend each book, and why.
    2. Bring your completed journal to a Barnes & Noble store between May 24th and September 6th, 2011.
    3. Choose your FREE reading adventure from the book list featured on the back of the journal.
*Eligible books will be listed on the coupon. Choices must be made from available stock. No special orders. Limit of one (1) form per school-age child (grades 1-6), please. Incomplete form will be ineligible for free books.

The Borders summer reading program gives out free books to children as well. After kids read 10 books, they're eligible to choose a book from the list of free books.

The free books on the Borders summer reading list include Danny and the Dinosaur, The Cat in the Hat, The Girl who could fly and Ramona the Brave. Click here for a complete list.
