PETER RABBIT Inspires Kids Across America to 'Plant A Seed' for Earth Day #PeterRabbit #EarthDay

Everyone’s favorite rabbit is bringing Mr. McGregor’s iconic garden to life with a nationwide school and community Earth Day initiative in honor of PETER RABBIT™ the Moviethe contemporary feature film adaptation about the beloved and mischievous hero, available today on Digital from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

PETER RABBIT™ is joining forces with Slow Food USA’s “Plant A Seed” campaign, working with school and local gardening programs to honor Earth Day on April 22, as well as encouraging families to plant a seed together.
To commemorate the partnership, kids are being challenged to get their hands dirty at events in LA and NYC. Through Slow Food USA’s “Plant A Seed” campaign, hundreds of gardening kits will be sent out to school and community gardens around the country, bound to produce family fun and grow green thumbs from coast to coast.

Television Host and Landscape Designer Sara Bendrick will lead the events in NYC, including planting a Harlem school’s inaugural vegetable garden. “Nothing connects kids with their food roots better than vegetable gardening.  Learning how to garden is the best way to connect with our food source, learn patience and responsibility, and demonstrate to kids how caring for something can reward them with tasty and healthy treats,” says Bendrick.

“In each garden we see an emblem of hope and pragmatic action," says Richard McCarthy, executive director of Slow Food USA. "It adds up to the kind of systemic change we need to make food a significant part of the solution.  We are especially excited for youth and gardeners of all ages to plant a seed for change."

“At Garden School Foundation, we love working with organizations that encourage youth and communities to get outside, to work in the garden and to eat fruits and veggies.  Working with the PETER RABBIT ™ movie characters has been a wonderful experience and a perfect fit to bring the garden alive for our families.  This support makes a huge difference for our program by spreading the word, sharing expertise, and helping to build strong communities where we all live,” said Kathryn Kocarnik, Co-Director of the Garden School Foundation.
